Coyote Mint

(Monardella villosa)

"The monardellas are miniature shrublets with great possibilities for the droughty garden. They not only require little extra water and are happy in full sun and heat, but they flower during the summer months, sometimes into early fall… The flowers, although individually small, are massed together in showy heads; they range from white to purple to orange-red. Hummingbirds seek out the red-flowered kinds, while bumblebees and butterflies are fond of the others."

Glen Keator, Native Shrubs of California, 1994
